Our Mission

The Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants is the only statewide professional membership association exclusively for CPAs. CSCPA has a current membership of approximately 6,000 individuals in public practice, business and industry, government, and education.

We strive to provide our members with advocacy, community, and education. Never before has the need for advocacy been this great.

The economic crisis that hit the United States did not leave Connecticut unscathed, and the Connecticut Society of CPAs decided its time to act.

As Executive Director Arthur Renner posed in the May/June 2010 issue of Connecticut CPA, “If not us, who; if not now, when?”

“We have spearheaded and supported financial literacy throughout Connecticut high schools for years,” Renner continued. “Now we are going to address a different and even more serious dearth of financial awareness: that of our elected officials.”

“As Connecticut certified public accountants, there has never been a time to take our middle name more to heart. As a profession, we have an obligation to the communities we serve… to serve in the public interest as best we know how. To merely stand by and watch as our problem becomes the problem of our children, and our children’s children, would be to shirk that trust which the public has invested in us.”

With the support of the Board of Directors and the Advisory Council, a taskforce formed to face the issues head-on. The group bears a daunting mission:

“To assist Connecticut’s governmental leaders and elected officials in dealing with the unprecedented fiscal crisis facing the state and the related issues contributing to this situation.”
