We need YOUR thoughts for the Governor’s Business Tax Policy Review Task Force!

Posted on March 23, 2012. Filed under: Uncategorized |

Julie McNeal, CPA serves as the CSCPA Director of Finance and Operations. In her spare time, she’s also been a vocal proponent of the CSCPA’s initiative to “fix Connecticut’s future.”  In 2010, Julie served on a task force looking to tackle the state’s other post-employment benefits shortfall. Today, she’s stepping onto another task force: the Governor’s Business Tax Policy Review Task Force, appointed to broadly review the state’s business tax environment and determine if the decisions being made support the strategic vision of concurrently raising money and the economy.

Julie will keep us updated on the task force’s activities going forward – but she needs your help!

Mostly, what I’m interested in is what you think – consider me an information gatherer.  Given the executive branch representation on the task force, a Connecticut business taxation strategic plan is the best possible outcome.  I want to meet face-to-face to hear, in your words, how you think CT should concurrently raise taxes and the economy.  If you had a magic wand, what would you do?

I want and need to hear from you! Contact me at 860-258-0236 or juliem@cscpa.org and we’ll  set up a time to talk. This will be an ongoing initiative through October 2012, so we can talk at a time that works for you.

You’re probably wondering who else is serving on the task force! Here’s the whole list:

  • DRS Commissioner Sullivan (Co-Chair)
  • DECD Commissioner Smith (Co-Chair)
  • Labor Commissioner Marshall (or designee)
  • OPM Secretary Barnes (or designee)
  • State Treasurer Nappier (or designee)
  • State Comptroller Lembo (or designee)
  • Governor’s appointees
      • Christopher Bruhl, President & CEO, Business Council of Fairfield County
      • Steven Lanza, Ph.D., University of Connecticut Department of Economics
      • Julie McNeal, CPA, Director of Finance and Operations, Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants
